Thank you for the explanation. Is there a day that is not so busy, probably not lol, that is not so crowded that would garantee a lunch or dinner reservation? It would be sad to come all that way and not get into either meal. I also had looked at a tour package, but my son-in-law said it would be cheaper if we just go and plan our on itenery.
hi nanaty, the whole month of February is a pretty easy time to get a reservation, in fact, Jan/Feb you can usually just walk in. Come March though and the snowbirds flock in and through the summer it is a very good idea to show up early and get your reservation.
Just a question. If your in Savannah on vacation why can’t you call and make a reservation? I am not disabled, but just wondered why it is different from other resturant? Why be at the resturant early in the morning and stand in line for a lunch or dinner reservation? It would still be first come first serve either way.
It’s the sheer demand of people coming in from out-of-town just to eat there that has made the Priority Seating policies necessary. The Lady & Sons is a HUGE tourist destination!!!! I’ve driven by and seen the line loop around the whole block and crossed over to the other side of the street. Paula’s celebrity brings people from all over the world!
There is a special tour of Savannah with Old Savannah Tours (I think that’s the tour company she authorizes) and the tour price includes your meal. That’s always an option for tourists as well.
The Priority Seating works like this: At 9:30 AM, a host/hostess comes outside the restaurant and starts taking names for lunch. When all the lunch spots are taken, you can take a dinner spot. Once all spots are taken, that’s it for the day.
Anyone with a party of 10 or more can call for a reservation as well. On certain holidays, you can call for a reservation for 10 or less. Locals, I’ve just learned, can call for reservations at any time.
The whole thing is to try and get the people in who want to eat there and be fair about it.
Phil, I hope I explained that correctly.
Unless things have changed, the Paula Deen Tour includes your meal at UNCLE BUBBAS not The Lady & Sons. The tour gives you a card that allows you to make a reservation at The Lady & Sons You still may have a short wait but nothing like the normal wait. I’ve done this a couple of times.

Thanks for the correction!!! I haven’t taken the tour, but had heard that the meal was at the Lady & Sons.
Thank you so much for all the information. My daughter and her family came down two years ago. They loved it. Food was great.
But, that was the kind of cooking she grew up on. Country Cookin’. lol Thanks again.
I found the restaurant & staff (especially Polly) to be really accomidating to my husband & I. We passed through Savannah on 12/29/07 on our way home to NY. The only thing I wanted was to be able to go to the restaurant. By the time we got into town, it was late in the afternoon. We tried getting a reservation through the conceige (sp?) at the hotel we stayed at with no luck.
My husband walked from the hotel (the Marriot Riverside) to the restaurant where he met Polly. He explained to her our situation & she was able to fit us in at the bar if he was able to get me & return quickly. He agreed & proceeded to leave. When we got back to the restaurant, Polly met us, explained there would be a short wait. We’re thinking “no problem”, we were both just thrilled to be there.
Well after by husband left to get me, she realized that the bar tables weren’t going to work with me & the wheelchair. To avoid turning us away, Polly & the staff moved some table around so that they can add a table for us. I was thrilled about the bar table, imagine my excitement about actually getting a table We had a great meal in a great restaurant with the best group of people helping us… I couldn’t ask for more.
And it wasn’t just the restaurant staff… the giftshop staff were just as accomidating. They were more than willing to move the displays around so that I can maneuver through.
Thank you to everyone for a night we will never forget! In my short time in Savannah, I feel in love with the city. We’re hoping to get back there in December & we will definitely be back to The Lady & Sons. I can’t wait!
I also want to thank the staff at Lady and Sons for a wonderful experience. The general manager was so helpful prior to my visit. When my husband and I arrived, my name was already on the list. We were seated within minutes. The meal was fantastic (would you expect anything less!) and the service was great. Again, many thanks to all of you that made this happen for me with ease. Southern hospitality is super!
