Where is another good place for dinner? We are hoping to have dinner @ Lady & Sons one night and are going to Uncle Bubba’s another day. What are some other suggestions for dinner in Savannah? Preferably somewhere walkable downtown.

FYI - there will be 5 of us…I’m going with my mom and 3 of her friends. Should be a hoot! Not looking for anything terribly fancy.

thanks y’all!

I have heard that Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House is a great place to eat.  My Aunt eats there every time she goes to Savannah….it has good reviews from other people as well.

I was in Savannah last weekend.  Had dinner at Lady and Sons and also at Uncle Bubba’s.  If you like Pizza you should try Vinnie Van Go Go’s at city market.  Its not a fancy place but they sure do have good pizza.

Do try The Pirate House..right off Bay street.  Excellent buffet and a lot of character in the restaurant.  They will even give you a tour of the old pirate quarters.

I think Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House is one of the best places to eat.  They are usually open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m so you better go early to get a seat.  The food is wonderful and when you are done you have to take your plate to the kitchen.  I went last spring and we ate at Tubby’s Tankhouse.  I had the catch of the day which was Mahi Mahi.
I don’t know if you like to do Ghost Tours but we took one at night and it was a lot of fun!  Our guide told us the history of Savannah and I love U.S. history.
I heard that Vinnie Van GoGo’s is awesome.  If you take the Paula Deen tour they give you call ahead seating for The Lady and Son’s

So Mrs Wilkes is only open for lunch then? We have lunch plans (doing the Paula Deen tour and will eat at Uncle Bubba’s)...just need a dinner place.

Any suggestions of places that aren’t buffets?

thanks guys!

Tubby’s tankhouse doesn’t have a buffet.  It’s down on River Street so you can people watch and see the boats going down the river.  I heard The Pink house is a nice place but I heard that it is kind of pricey. cool smile

The last time we ate at The Pirate House their buffet was around the same price as Paula’s.  Now I have not ordered from their menu.  I always enjoy the buffets when we travel.  You can usually get a taste of more than one of the regional dishes.

Of course you can order from the menu at Paula’s Lady & Sons also if you don’t care for a buffet.

We ordered from the menu at the Pirates house. Excellent food and service. I’d say prices are average for the area.

My favorite is The Cotton Exchange on River St.You can get a decent seafood meal under $20.For breakfast you might want to try Clary’s{Abercorn},it was where i went everyday for my morning meal when i lived there.
