Hi Donna!
Paula’s shows and the cocktail parties were wonderful, and Paula really puts herself into her shows! So much Fun!
I did visit with Paula a couple of times in the casino, and she was cordial, but I know she was
using the time to relax and regroup for her next show.
Still haven’t decided if we’re going on the next cruise, it is a pretty high markup.

Thanks for the info “vacationgirl”! I love your post name! I really want to go on the cruise too, but like you said, it is really costly. I’m leaving on Saturday from Port Canaveral on the Carnival Glory for seven nights to the western Caribbean. We will visit Belize ( I can’t wait to lay on that beach), Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Nassau! My friend that I travel with a lot gave me this trip for my birthday that is coming up in June. We are staying in a suite, and the Carnival Glory is a really nice ship, and our total cost for the two of us, is just a few hundred dollars more than one ticket on Paula’s cruise. And this is still high season too. I know her cruise is on a new ship, and a smaller size, that would make it cost a little more, but it seems awfully high for the price of cruises these days. I am sure being in January makes it cost more. I can’t imagine that Paula gets paid for the cruise, and that cost is passed on to us. But maybe I am wrong about that part, don’t know. I do believe it is a little cheaper if you don’t go with the Paula Deen group and get to do all the things with her. I would sure love to go, I know it will be the best fun ever! If you do get to go, enjoy yourself and win lots of money in that casino. Donna H.

The cruise with Paula is well worth the money.  Just because it’s a vacation for us, doesn’t mean that it’s a complete vacation for Paula because even though she does have fun with everything, she’s still on a “work schedule” with all the activities going on.  It is cheaper if you don’t go with the Paula group, because we’re paying for all those experiences and events with Paula.  The cruise I went on had several cocktail parties where all the drinks were provided, so some of the cost goes towards things like that.  We all had to wear wristbands so we could get into all the Paula events and those who hadn’t booked with the Paula group were not allowed.  Hopefully Phil can get us some type of special rate…fingers crossed!  smile
Donna, have fun on your cruise!

Donna, have fun on your cruise!

Hey, thanks for all the new info, I know it would be wonderful to cruise with Paula and her family. I looked at your pictures, and it sure looked like you had a great time. Are you going on this one coming up in January?? Really none of my business at all, but if you are a repeat guest with Paula, then surly you will get some kind of discount, all cruise lines do that!! I didn’t know if maybe the cruise line itself made the extra money for having her on the ship and taking care of all the special things they do for her fans on board. I guess I was hoping that maybe just once a celebrity like Paula, was doing something special for all her fans that have made her so famous today. Just doesn’t happen that way does it??? I am a HUGE Paula Deen fan, but not a really wealthy one, and I just hate to see everything she does be priced out of my range. I guess the price of fame! I love Paula, I have a long time, and I always will, and I will always watch her Food Network shows and anything else on TV, but the shows like WPB and the cruise are things I will just have to dream about!! Thanks again, and I am sure I will have a great time with my friend on our cruise. She is the sweetest lady, we met when she and her husband moved near my husband and me, then her husband passed away, and I spent a lot of time with her during that terrible time I have had six surgeries since my mom and I sold our restaurant, and my friend helped me through all of them. The two on my legs, I was down for eight months with each one, and bless her heart, she waited on me hand and foot. Unfortunately I have been able to return the favor to her as she has had several surgeries also. But that is what best friends do for each other. I have had a pretty rough year this year with my health, as I know a lot of people have, and she just wanted to cheer me up and do something special for me. I really believe she is the “Angel” God sent to help me and be my friend, not because of the cruise, but because of the friendship we now have, and how much better my life is for knowing her. If you get to go with Paula again, take lots of pictures and post them for the ones of us who won’t be there. They are a lot of fun to look at. I really enjoyed your last ones. Thanks again for straightening me out on the extra cost. I know every minute with Paula makes it worth it for sure, just being a brat because I can’t afford it!! smile

Here’s the details:

http://www.alicetravel.com/deen_carib01-10.php

don’t forget…they have to pay for the special parties with Paula, the gifts, the games and prizes and ...PAULA, of course!  It’s going to be so much fun!  They are also including GRATUTITIES, Tax and Insurance in the price.

They can send you a flyer with all the details too.  I spoke with Julie 800-229-2542

I so so so want to go. Not sure if I can afford it! If I did go it would have to be a solo trip..never been on a cruise before, so it might just freak me out! I was looking at the prices and the differences in the cabin prices???not sure what the difference is since I haven’t done the cruise thing before. How long do they usually stay on sale before selling out?

The difference in the cabin prices on regular cruises is where the cabin is located on the ship and how large it is. some have window views, some have balconies, some are inside with no windows, and some are suites. The bigger the room and with a balcony is always the most expensive except for the suites. They hold anywhere from two to six people sometimes, and depending on how many and how big, how much it costs. Hope this helps a little.

One more thing, if you have any trouble with sea sickness, stay as close to the bottom as possible, it does not move nearly as much as the top if you get in a storm or rough seas. You will love cruising, it is so much fun, and with Paula too, well, it would be like dying and going straight to heaven! Hope you get to go.

Oh my, You might want to think real hard about going on a seven day cruise. I know they build them very steady now, but the last one I was on, the bathroom door slammed open and shut all night long!!! We were surely a rockin on that water that night!

That’s so true! My mom gets deathly sick on the gambling boat here at Port Canaveral. But I have heard of others that never got sick on a cruise ship. In January the sea should be really nice, and no storms, but with the weather now-a-days I would not count on that. Just get a big ole barf bag, and get on that ship!!!
