Colonial Park Cemetery is the 1st Cemetery in Savannah, the cemetery served as the primary public cemetery from 1750 to 1853.Savannah was discovered by James Oglethorpe in 1733, so from 1733 to 1750 there was no Cemetery people were just buried anywhere. So they say that everywhere you walk in Savannah more than likely it’s somebody grave.
When I visited Savannah in early December of last year with my friend, she wanted to visit one of the old homes and so we took a tour of one, I don’t even remember the name of it. I was too busy looking out the windows to see if I could spot Paula Deen somewhere Anyway, I did take pictures for her as we went through the house that day, and when I printed them at home, it was really scary what was in several of them. The man who owned the house was having an affair with the maid, his wife found them there one night together, so he hung himself there. I believe his wife jumped from the second floor of the house after she found them, and died, then he hung himself. I think I have that right. Anyway, when I printed the pictures, several of them were sideways when I printed them and had a floating look like the wind was blowing everything in the picture, the chandelier was even swinging a different way than the rest of the picture. But the scariest thing was the old man’s face was in the tree outside one of the windows that I was taking a picture of the frame work around the window. As soon as I showed my friend the picture she saw him also. He had a dark green suit on, a green hat, and he looked angry at us! The next time we showed the picture to friends, he was gone, I swear I do NOT drink, this happened. Now he is back in the picture, so I guess he came home with us, but believe me, when I go back to Savannah, I AM TAKING THAT MAN HOME!!!!!!!! I will try to find out the name of that house and post it before the old forums close. The young lady who was doing the tour told us to be sure and check our pictures because a lot of people come back and show them the sideways pictures, but she didn’t say anything about the man in the tree. I just hope he stays in the picture until I can show it to them. That was the only ghost we had any experiences with, but we talked to lots of people who say they have seen them all over town.
We have so many ghost tours here. If you ever can catch the specials on TV, they are pretty good as well. But I have always loved that about my town; gives us more character!
Don’t you worry Lisa, I’m gonna bring that fellow in that tree right back to Savannah as soon as I can! Do you know the house I was referring to? It seems it was something like the Talbage House or something like that. Some big developer has bought it and restored a lot of it. Hey Lisa, do you know if Becky T. was ever able to get the book for her mom Rosie who has lung cancer? I saw her post first that night, and I suggested she write Phil and see if it could be done. If it hasn’t been done, I would love to buy the book for her mom, if you could get Paula to sign it, and I will pay the postage also. Just let me know if you can do it, if it has not been done already, and I will pm you my credit card information. Thanks a bunch. Donna H.
Yes, that one was done, from what I remember. It’s been a long two weeks!
Not sure about the specific home. We have a lot of places here that are notorious for ghosts, such as the Andrew Low Home and Pink House. This is the first I’ve heard of a guy in a tree, but then again, I don’t know every story about here.

Hey Lisa, I believe it was the Talbot house, does that ring a bell? I wrote a few posts back about my pictures and the man in that tree, it is really scary. If he would stay in that %^$# tree in the picture all the time, I would try to sell it to the casino that bought the grill cheese sandwich with Christ on it for $25,000!!!! Too funny!
I love ghosties and things that go bump in the night. That makes me want to go to Savannah all the more. I am not going to tell my husband about the ghosts, he would tell me I am crazy. I will just keep looking for them because I want to tour some of the old houses. Thanks for the information about Savannah being haunted I had never heard that.
