I’ve had a number of readers comment on the beauty of our food photography. I wanted to share a little insight into a reason for the beautiful images. One word…Chia. If you read photographer Chia Chong’s bio in our contributor section, you’ll learn the general information about her education and professional work. (Chia, we really have to rewrite that…WAY too boring for you.) What you won’t learn from her bio, is how this wonderful gem from Penang, Malaysia loves Paula’s southern cooking and seamlessly captures its delicious appeal on camera. Chia is a light. She brings a calmness and self assuredness to every photo shoot. In the past couple of years, we have shot everything from slot machines to seafood together. In a world where photographers have a reputation of being a bit “temperamental” it is always a pleasure to work with one that isn’t. Chia is professional, funny, fast and FABULOUS. Capturing the southern charm of Old Fashion Chocolate Fudge on film may seem easy, but I assure you it isn’t. Somehow Chia finds just the right angle, lights it just so and CLICK….she just gets it.

Libbie

It would be so awesome to be affiliated with Paula. I feel a connection with her so much. I had a friend that passed away a five years ago that she reminds me of. Renee and I would get together with our kids every Christmas time to bake our cookies. In the winter months we would make our homemade cinnamon rolls at her house because she had a wood stove that we would set the pans next to, to rise on those cold winter days. The photography section is always interesting to me. My daughter and I have a side photography business that we love being able to do together. Only we are going to slow down a bit since she had her twin boys Jack and Oliver. I have been to Chicago, Savannah and Tunica to see Paula. My family gives me a hard time saying that I’m a stalker. But in reality they enjoy Paula’s show and her dishes that are made from the half dozen of cook books that I have of hers. I could have just said that I enjoyed these articles and been done with it but Paula always puts a smile on your face and warms the heart.
