Pushing the Watermelon Cooler

By Libbie Summers, Senior Food Editor

My husband’s friend, Kenny, is the appropriator of all ridiculous “must have” items found on the Internet. He has recently sent links to a pristine Porsche Rally Car, located here in Savannah that we MUST buy, a pig-faced pot lid sold at the MOMA store and my favorite…the Watermelon Cooler.

Since we are deep in the throws of watermelon or as Paula likes to say “watermeltin’” season it’s only fitting that I share with you this simple ingenious piece of equipment. As I am barely versed in the English language, I have no idea what the written marketing tools are in the link that sells this baby watermelon buggy. What I can discern from the photo is you can push or pull it, extend or retract the handle, move the space bubble open or close and clearly something keeps the melon cool. What is noticeable in any language is it’s hilarious, brilliant and costs around $228 USD!

I hope you enjoy all the wonderful watermelon and pickling recipes we have on the site this week. Put them together, push them around in a baby buggy and you have your own watermelon cooler filled with Pickled Watermelon Rind!

Eat something homemade and spit a seed,
Libbie
