Sometimes the ferris wheel at Deenland Amusement Park just won’t slow down long enough to let you get off! It has been a colorful month here at this busy midway! We are currently working on a redesign of the website, and have taped commercials and television pilots in 100º F weather. Our bellies are full of sixteen amazing cream cheese recipes and we picked the four Real Women of Philadelphia, all the while taping a live show! We have developed and tested new recipes for the holidays (yes, we work that far ahead)...AND, if that wasn’t enough, we are busy planning a November wedding that’s going to be inspiring…filled with culinary and visual artistry.
So, when does the ride stop? The 4th of July…that’s when! We’ll all pause for a day to celebrate the birth of our young nation, raise a glass to the soldiers currently serving in the armed forces and make memories with our families and friends. Paula is hosting picnic on the lawn at her home. She’ll be cooking up a storm of picnic favorites like those featured throughout the website this week. As the sun sets, there will be a movie out on the lawn and if we squint, we’ll be able to see the Savannah fireworks off in the distance.
At some point during the day, I’ll close my eyes tight and transport myself back to the many 4th of July celebrations spent on my grandparents’ farm in rural Missouri…chasing fireflies and falling asleep under the stars…sticky from the homemade ice cream.
Eat something homemade and close your eyes tight at least for a moment,
Libbie

Miss Paula, thanks for thaking me down memory lane, I was blessed to grow up in sherman oaks california with 5 generations alive. I learned to cook at the kneww of my father gran and great gran mother. the grandmothers were fab cooks, my great grandfather was a police chief, in los Angeles in the 30’s and he had cooks in the kitchen, but the grandmothers loved to bake the most delicious pies and make fried chicken. I WAS BLESSED TO HAVE THEM WELL INTO THEIR 90’S….The had bacon grease on the counter and used it all the time.I can close my eyes and smell and taste their wonderful food. I am a trained chef and besides own a catering business and appear at macys herald sq in nyc, cooking in the celler. I teach kids to cook healthy and green, I call my other business ‘Kids Green Kitchen, I do birthday partys for boys and girls and the kids are so eager to learn to cook and in turn they teach their parents.I do a lot of green events and farmers markets to share my passion… have a lovely summer chef melody

Hi Libby! Thanks for the sweet note. It actually slowed me down after I read it. We need reminders from time to time to enjoy life and be thankful for living in the USA. We are so blessed. I was a part of the RWOP and feel so connected with Paula now, even though my recipes were not chosen! Just as many others werent. But, I enjoyed the excitement of it all and learned alot. Tonight my husband and I are heading out to our gazebo by the pond to do fireworks with our grandchildren. They are the 10 joys of our lives! God bless all of you who work so hard with Paula! I wish I could work with her!! Happy and blessed 4th to you! Dannielle Bozyone
