I don’t know exactly what it was that sent Paula into tears when I showed her this picture. Mind you they were good tears, but tears none the less. I can guess it was the same thing that touched my heart…the feeling of chef’s working in harmony on such a beautiful and memorable evening. Mostly, I think it was seeing her long time Lady and Son’s kitchen manager, Rance Jackson, at the stove. For Paula, Rance is a family member. Having been with her for 16 years. I can only imagine seeing him cooking for Corrie’s wedding….who was just a young girl when he and Paula started working together….had to bring back a flood of memories to go with the tears.
Eat something homegrown…and take a picture,
Libbie
P.S. This warm behind the scenes glimpse in Paula’s kitchen was taken during dinner service of the wedding of Paula’s niece, Corrie. Photographer, Nathan Jones (a.k.a. Bob Jones), has a unique gift of ninja photography. Aside from the presence of his unkempt beard, you would never know he was in a room…under a table…or attached to the ceiling. We are so lucky to have such a talented resource such as his here in Savannah. Bob was hired to take the “behind the scenes” shots of all food and beverage service for our publicized use after….As seen in the image above, he did not disappoint.
