Paula loves having fresh cut flowers to bring inside. She says that they add a real sense of warmth to her house, and I have to agree. So when she asked me for an autumn-inspired centerpiece for her kitchen table, I knew just what to do. Fall foliage is so inviting and pretty. The changing leaves, and burnt oranges, reds, and browns that surround us during this season really lend themselves to interior design.

Here are some simple ways to get the same look in your home!

imageContainer: I started with a beautiful piece of Majolica pottery that Paula found in a local antique store, here in Savannah. Majolica pottery is earthenware that was originally popular in the Italian Renaissance. Many of the patterns mimic flower, foliage, and other outdoor scenes. Though this piece was found at an antique store, you can easily find ceramic replicas at any store that sells home interior goods.

imageFoliage: For the focal point of the centerpiece, I wanted to go with gorgeous sunflowers. Sunflowers instantly brighten up any room, and the color match my palette perfectly for fall.

You can the hints of red I added with tiny clusters of wax flowers that peek out from behind the bright yellow of the sunflowers.

imageI also chose to include the muted colors of antique hydrangeas that you can see in this photo. They provided a solid backdrop of neutral color so that the oranges and yellows could really pop.

Finally, sprigs of millet grass spray from the centerpiece, giving it a sense of celebration!

You can find any of these flowers in your local markets, but I encourage you to make fall decorating your own! Experiment with different types and colors, and of course go crazy with containers!

Paula I am asking for your help to see if you could add the sodium count to your recipes. You see I have just found out that I have third stage Kideny Disease. That means that I have to eat a Low Sodium diet only 2000 mg of sodium a day...There are 2300 mg in 1 tsp. of salt.... I love all your recipes & it is very hard to stay on this diet....I thank you for all your help..... Carrie Koltin
