Last Saturday is now a blur to me. I have since been to Las Vegas, DC, Mount Vernon, Annapolis and now safe at home in the low country. My head is still spinning, but I can’t forget the broccoli. So, we had less than 24 hours from taping the last segment of Paula’s Best Dishes to clean, stage and cook Paula’s Fundraising event for 250 people. By the time the first guest arrived, I had already been on my feet for 12 hours. Again, it’s all a blur to me. Thing is, it was exhilarating in its craziness. It is out of exhaustion and lack of funds that creativity shines. Case in point…broccoli. My vegetable medium for making the food stations clever and creative on the cheap.
It’s really quite simple. I wanted to feature Paula’s cookware line so I grabbed a couple of colanders, floral oasis, bamboo skewers, broccoli and a few daisies. Voila! The most homely garden cherubs I have ever seen turned into two hip and hunky broccoli-carrying bucks. Okay, a stretch, but they were really cute. If we do nothing else here at PaulaDeen.com, I hope we tickle your creativity and make you smile along the way. Next time you’re stuck for a centerpiece…look to your refrigerator.
Eat something Homemade…possibly the centerpiece on your dinning table,
Libbie

Libbie, Broccoli is my very favorite veggie...always has been. My children grew up eating way too much broccoli according to them. But...when they gave me a surprise birthday party in August, your broccoli centerpieces were on all of the tables. It was a slight tease from my children to me...but I couldn't have been happier. They put a smile on my face and made our country setting brighten with color and fun. My daughter, Lindsay, and I thank you for giving her this awesome quick and easy idea!

That broccoli center piece is so pretty. This gives me lots of ideas for my summer pool parties. You and Paula keep on having fun. We all love you.

That is the most brilliant idea for a center piece ever! Thanks for sharing this! I entered the Philly contest and didn’t place on any recipes. I was bummed, but so excited for the women that did place. I was looking forward to meeting Paula and spending time cooking with her more than I wanted the $25,000! I have so much of her cookware and kitchen utensils and love to watch her show. She is encouraging to me and so many women I know. Thanks Paula! One day I hope I get to meet you!

This center piece is wonderful. Never thought anything like this would work. I need your help. I had a recipe and have lost it. Do you have a recipe for a Butter Pecan Cake? Remember this cake was so good and moist. Begging for help. list25

Dear Paula,
I just loved your broccoli decoration. I am jealous that lady got to meet you and not me. I love seeing your beautiful face on my computer, I can’t wait to see what you have to say, you are so uplifting. But you better get yourself some rest or you will pay.I know you are working hard for us fans to enjoy and I know I really do enjoy your ideas and most of all your honesty and down to earth personality. Thanks so much and God bless you. Love, Cindy
