Two Reasons to Love Your Nook

By Elizabeth Taliaferro

Top Two Reasons I Love My Nook.

It’s no secret around my office or at home that my vision is less than great. Of course, I have high-powered prescription glasses and “readers” at my desk, in my car, on my nightstand, on the coffee table, and virtually everywhere within 12 inches of something I might want to peruse up close. But even still, reading can be a real strain sometimes. So when I found out that the copy on Nook Tablets can be increased in size, I bought one. Of course, the skeptic in me saved the receipt in case it didn’t deliver. But the fact is, the first time I ramped up the type size and began to read, I knew I had made a wise purchase.

Here’s the second reason I love it. You can now get a subscription to view Cooking with Paula Deen Magazine right on your Nook.* All the beautiful food pictures, great recipes, and foodie talk, right before your eyes with the tap of an icon. And it’s easy to get a subscription. Go to cookingwithpauladeen.com, and click on the “digital version” link in the top right corner of the site to find out more.

During my skeptical, pre-Nook days, I thought I’d be a bit melancholy about not being able to hold a book and flip real-life pages. But friends, once I powered up and didn’t have to fumble around looking for reading glasses, I was very happy. I’d say the Nook has made reading once again a great escape that I look forward to every single day.

*You can get a subscription to Cooking with Paula Deen on your iPad, iPhone, and Android, too, once you’ve downloaded the Free Nook App.

Dear Paula Dean, I just saw your interview on Entertainment Tonight. I know of serveral people who have used Chantex to stop smoking. You do have to get a doctor's prescription for it but it DOES WORK. Please try Chantex. I wish you the best. I'll keep you in my prayers. I am from Rome, Ga. I want everybody to just leave you alone. The nasty comments they make p*** me off. You are wonderful and people are jusr jealous of you celebrity. They dont have to make the recipes you provide or watch your show. Your health is absolutly none of their business and Anthony BOOORDARIN is a drunk. love you.

Paula, I just wanted to send a note you on the great experience Sweetie (my wife)and I had at your restaurant in Savannah. Your staff was excellent and our Waiter Ben, was a premier professional. You must be very proud of what you have accomplished at this site as you should be. We watch you every night and I am sure you hear this all the time but you remind me of my sister so much with your bubbly personality and outreaching to folks. Thank you again and I will be back to eat again. I feel I am an expert on fried chicken and YEP yours is goooooood. We keep trying to copy your receipe. Thank you for your show. I believe Sweetie like's your boys and their cooking, yea right I believe she just likes the boys, hahahah..Just saw your latest photo and you look great, hope your diabetes is going well as sweetie fights it as well. One day I will try and get my sister to go with me to Savannah and I hope the two of you can meet, I am sure all would have a great time.

I received a Nook Tablet for Christmas and one of the first things I discovered was that I could increase the size of the type on my books. I have vision issues (macular hole) in one of my eyes and it makes reading regular size type difficult. I love my Nook and use it every day. Love your magazine and your show. Maybe one of these days I will get to Savannah and get to visit the restaurant.

Hi Paula, That is wonderful I have a Nook color. Wish I would have waited and got the tablet version. Also wanted to let you know I enjoy your shows on CMT. They remind me of my Mom who is not longer with me. Do you have a book for these recipes? I would love to get it. And on another note please please do more shows on diabetic cooking. My 14 year old daughter is type 1 and it would be great to find some great old fashioned recipes converted over. Thanks again Jeanne
