We are an eclectic group at Paula Deen Enterprises…I think it speaks to Paula. After all, she is an eclectic individual. If we were all the same and agreed on everything we couldn’t produce the fabulous work we do. Like this website. Paula is so proud of it. She told me last week that she was in an interview with Leeza Gibbons and Leeza commented about pauladeen.com, saying it was the most beautiful website on the internet. I shared this with my colleagues at PDE. Theresa and I are old enough to know who Leeza is and were oddly excited. Jonathan wanted to change his middle name to Leeza. Michelle was over the moon. Then there’s Phil, MIT grad, new iPad owner and the head tech guy, he had to Google her!
Here’s the cool thing about Phil and this organization. Everyone has a secret hobby. Phil, the tech magician is, believe it or not…a city chicken farmer! He and his wife Julie have a charming cottage just a scooter ride from the corporate office where they have the most amazing side garden and city chicken coop. I silently call his brood the “tech chickens”. I chuckle to myself that Phil probably has all the analytics on their laying habits. Really, I’m jealous…I desperately want chickens. Even found a modern chicken coop to match my house. Phil and Julie were kind enough to give my husband and I a tour of the city farm a year ago where I took these photos. I walked away with admiration of their work, a bag of spring peas and a new greenhouse frame! Watching the chicken video of Paula and her new brood, it is important to know that Phil made those birds happen. He shared his love with Paula and arranged for her to get the rescued chickens she now has. He may not know who Leeza Gibbons is or once was…but really who cares. This month it’s more about the chickens…maybe he can use his new iPad to find out about John Tesh next.
Eat Something Homemade and top it with a fried egg,
Libbie
PS You can’t see from these photos, but Phil is somehow married to a stunningly beautiful woman and the brains behind the brains.
