Southern pound cakes are rich in tradition. Paula, like most Southern families, has a pound cake recipe from her Grandmother Paul that has been handed down from generation to generation. Her memories of summer picnics always included Grandmother Paul’s Sour Cream Pound Cake served in one form or another –buttered and toasted on the grill, cut and layered in a fancy trifle dish or sliced and served alongside a big bowl of sliced Georgia peaches steeped in a little sugar!
Sinfully buttery and oh-so-moist, a pound cake is the perfect base for summer’s bounty of fresh fruits, berries and even herbs. Try one of Paula’s favorite pound cake recipes below and let us know how you top your pound cake!

Paula, I have been watching your show since your kitchen was no bigger than a closet. I was very sorry to hear about your diabetes but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop watching your shows or cooking your recipes. I am having a hard time understanding why so many people have turned against you. If the public cannot differentiate between eating in moderation and soaking themselves in butter, that is their problem, not yours. You cook with the excellence from grandmothers past, before supplements, preservatives and gluten concerns. My Grandmother lived to be 86 and ate everything fried! I personally don't feel you are to blame for the nations obesity problem. I think the blame lies in the people who add the "crap" to our foods. A cake mix, pudding in cups, should not last 2 years! The only things that are better with age are wine and cheese. Keep doing what you do best, Paula. Don't let anyone change who you are. Thank you for being you, Jan Wilborn Bethany, Oklahoma

Paula, I am truly one of your biggest fans!!! I watch your show almost everyday. One of my dreams is to meet you along with a few other Stars from Food Network. I am a Lumbee Native from Robeson County and we love Country Food. I have tried several of your recipes but my favorite are your desserts. My family fell in love with your Aunt Peggy's Cheesecake with the Praline Topping that I made for them. Looking forward to visiting your restaurant in Cherokee next week. Just hate that I'm going to miss seeing you the following week. Sincerely, Ashley!

Dear Paula, I was just reading over some of your pound cake recipes and while all of them sound absolutely delish, none can compare to my Grandmother's Coconut Pound Cake, no offense meant towards yours, but....My grandma had a talent when it came to making pound cakes. If you would like to try my grandmothers recipe I would be more than honored to give it to you, it will melt in your mouth and it is so light and flavorful. Sincerely, Janette (A Georgia born, Military raised, Southwest Georgia Roots and raising, True Blue at Heart Southwest Georgia Peach, Southern Belle!!!!!)
