Though summer is typically viewed as a time for relaxing in the sun, most of us are always on the go- traipsing here and there to block parties, rushing the kids to and from summer camp, and packing the minivan for road trips to Disney World, who has time to think about what’s for dinner?
With the heat already on the rise, the last thing you should sweat is mealtime. You can save some time and your sanity this summer with easy no- and low-cook recipes featuring our sunny season star: the spiral ham! Now I know what you must be thinking, Christmas in July, right? Well, not quite. Spiral hams are not just for the traditional holidays, but also for summer, which is like one big long holiday! Our friends at Smithfield Foods have made a handy book, called the Summer Spiral Idea Book. It has 30 different recipes for all our meals. Plus it is printable with great looking pictures.
Planning a pool party? Cool off with a refreshing summer snack, like the Sweet Ham Torpedoes.
Or, check out this Summer Salad Caprese- so light, and so refreshing! It’s the perfect compliment to the humidity we face here in a Savannah.
Of course, when Paula and her test kitchen are developing recipes like these for you to enjoy, they prefer Smithfield’s Spiral Ham; they really are the ham experts. So, what are you waiting for? You’ve got a summer to enjoy! Hurry to your nearest grocery store and pick up a Smithfield Spiral Ham and let the summer begin!

Hi Paula, I too am trying to find one of your blue foil wrapped hams. I found one last year at Walmart but was unable to find one this year. Please let me know where they might be available in my hometown. Thanks, Kathy

I would so much like to receive my own smithfield ham spiral book with ideas for all ways to use the best ham ever made. Smithfield did SO GOOD by getting Paula to represent their products....love the sausage, too! The Benders

Hi Paula,
I’m trying to find a store that sells Smithfield hams in my area, and have been unable to find one. I was wondering if you had information on where I may be able to purchase one? I was even trying to look online to see if I can place a order online, but everytime I pull up the Smithfield link, I get an error message that the website is not avaiable. Can you provide any information for help.
Thanks so much, and I really enjoy your shows especally the ones with your sons. I also enjoyed eating at your resturant when I was in Savannah, it was great. Along with the food, the highlight was meeting your wonderful sons and having my picture taken with them.

Love the ham in deviled eggs also! Good for summer picnics. Just put lean ham into a food processor and grind it fine. Then put ham into the yolks of your favorite deviled egg recipe. Omit the sweet pickle relish—the ham gives it plenty of flavor!

Instead of the chive cream cheese, I’d use a new recipe I just found and made.. 8oz Cream Cheese, 1/4 cup chopped dill pickles and 1/4 cup chopped deli ham and use 1 1/2 Tbsp pickle juice to make it easy to mix together.

These recipes sound so tasty! I can’t wait to try them when I get back home since I won’t have much to do for the rest of the summer!
