Living on the West coast of beautiful Lake Michigan just shouts PiCnIc!!!!!!! We have so many white sandy beaches topped by high sand dunes. There are endless places to have lay out a pretty red and white checked table cloth and top it with my grandma's homemade potato salad, cold fried chicken, fresh fruit salad, homemade chocolate cake baked with marshmallows and sugar and cinnamon on top. My Grandma used to mix orange juice and grape juice together and it was so refreshing on a hot day. If we had a fire we'd cook farmer's market bi-colored sweet corn and top it with zippy butter.(melted butter mixed with yellow mustard and a touch of horseradish) After a while me might need to snack on something like homemade carmel corn and lemonade. If we stay until dark there of course would be s'mores.

I always get asked to make my creamy potato salad ( and get asked for the recipe and i can't give it to them cause i never measure any thing for it). I also like to make Cream cheese brownies,Pretzel Fluff and some kind of veggie tray. We go camping alot so i try to make different stuff when we camp.

I love to take the boys to the park for a picnic, we first walk the perimeter a couple of times so we get our exercise in.. lol then we eat! typically we see what we have in leftovers! Choosing two leftover meats, two sides and veggies, and desserts we pack up and head out..! We all get to eat something we like and it doesn't cost a thing! Any leftover chicken, meatloaf, roast, etc.. any garden, pasta, potato salad, leftover cupcakes, sweet pies, cookies are packed up and enjoyed all over again!

Hey Paula, we live on a lake so we do picnics quite often. Having two children 16 months apart they require quite an appetite after swimming and playing in the sand. We usually do some Bbq grilled chicken, Bbq ribs, my Homemade potato salad, and Baked beans, we Always have some sweet tea, and occasionally a good frozen Margarita. Sometimes depending on how hot it is outside we just whip up some sub sandwiches, Roast Beef, Ham, Pepperjack Cheese, Miracle Whip, Lettuce, Tomatoes and Pickles with homemade Banana Peppers with chips and dip.

Sweet Tea is a must have though.
