Pass the Bread

By The Paula Deen Test Kitchen

Warm up your ovens and get ready to pass the bread!

A good roll or side bread is what really brings a meal together, especially one as important as Thanksgiving. So soft, and straight-from-the-oven, you’ll love melting a pat of butter (or two) over these delicious recipes. Leftovers? No sweat! Save some for breakfast the next morning; just reheat and spread on your favorite jam or jelly. Or, just slap some leftover turkey between two slices for a quick and easy mini-turkey sandwich for lunch.

Without further ado, we give you Paula’s top six bread and roll recipes!

Paula i have been a major fan of yours for years. my daughter in law bought me one of your cookbooks for christmas one year and it was my favorite thing. i've always loved to cook, but the things i cook are real down home. i can't make anything fancy. i made up a recipe cuz truthfully i had to pick what i had, but anyway i want to share it, it really turned out very delicious. i 1st put in a bowl , some chopped ham pieces, then added a can of mushroom soup, then a can of mixed vegetables, i then put all this in a baking dish and added a lot of velveeta to it, then take a box of cornbread mix and mix as on pkg. pour over the top and bake till golden brown, it is so good, (or else i was just starving )

For Thanksgiving I always make a wonderful crescent roll. Of course, I have to make my famous honey butter to go with. This is a dinner roll that just melts in your mouth. It is very good for our home made apple butter or jelly for days after.

I watch you whenever you are on TV   and I read every letter I get through email.  You are so down to earth and honest to listen and watch.  I am retired on disablility but I cook and bake as much as I can.  I have 5 grandsons who love this. You are way above Rachel Ray because you are down to earth and fancy cooking is okay but alot of us cahn’t afford the ingredients.  I would prefere to use your cookware over anyone else. and that is due to 50years of cooking.  So maybe some day Santa will be nice I believe in him.  Your pictures are beautiful when you cook.  well talk to much because I guess it easy on the computer.  so have a Happy Thanksgiving with your families.  Elenora

I always bake a loaf of Dilly bread for turkey sandwiches. My mother started this tradition when I was younger and I have continued with it.  Nothing beats a Dilly bread sandwich with fresh cranberry relish, cornbread stuffing, mayo, and turkey.  Yum, I can hardly wait for Thanksgiving!

For at least 40 years, I have made Squash Rolls for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I found the recip in an old New England cookbook.

I had a problem trying to get on the gravy page, it wouldn’t load and I would love the recipe.  Also I wondered if you had a recipe for something wonderful I had once called sausage bread, where it was rolled into a bread loaf with I believe onion and celery,
