How to Prepare an Avocado

By Paula Deen Test Kitchen

What’s a game day get together without guacamole? Find out the easiest way to prep an avocado with our Test Kitchen’s how to!

image Step 1: Slice your avocado in half lengthwise working around the pit.

imageStep 2: Separate the avocados into halves by gently twisting and exposing the pit.

image Step 3: Carefully whack the heel of your knife into the pit of the avocado and gently twist the knife to get the pit out. Use a tea towel to remove the pit from the blade of your knife.

image Step 4: Score the avocado’s flesh, with a paring knife, being careful not to cut through to the skin of the avocado (or into your hand!).

image Step 5: Pop the avocado chunks out of the skin.

image Step 6: Or you can scoop it out of the skin using a spoon.

I love avocados and use them quite often. To save yourself from a possible accident use one of those silicon oven gloves to hold the avocado while scoring it. It not only gives you a better grip on it, but it saves your blood LOL. This also works for mangos.

I am so happy to find a way to connect to your recipes and follow the things that you are doing. I just knew that you are a person who is the "real You", not some put-on for show. Praise the Lord because he is bringing you back with your boys.
