Does she really?

By Libbie Summers

Does she really do her own arrangements? I get asked this all the time. People see the beautiful flower arrangements on the set of Paula’s Food Network Shows and wonder if Paula really does those herself. I can tell you first hand, when it comes to dahlias…YES she does. The photos above were never intended to be a part of the photo shoot we were working on. The crew was set up to take a lovely photo of Paula and Michael on their back porch enjoying a glass of Lemonade and slice of Simply Delicious Strawberry Cake (the photo was for strawberry season after all). Paula walked in and saw all the precious dahlias there ready to be arranged and dug right in. Not only did she use the white hydrangeas and deep fuchsia dahlias we gathered, she also picked a few petunias from her hanging baskets and confederate jasmine vine from the back porch railing to use as filler. The result was so beautiful that Michelle White, Paula’s Brand Manager and Art Director, asked the photographer, Chia Chong, to snap away. So the next time you wonder “Did Paula actually make that?”, chances are she sure did!

Dear Paula, your flowers are awesome. Flower arranging is one of my favorite things to do. When I worked I brought flowers every week, ( pharmacy) The paitents love them and they just purked up our days. Now i bring them to our church as often as I can. You are a very sweet person and someday hope to visit your resturant. Do you give tours of your gardens? Thanks for being you! Lauri

After seeing Paula’s house in person, I can tell you all she has the most beautiful gardens. And as far as that jasmine, it is all over her porches and smells absolutely divine! I sure miss that smell after living here in the midwest. I grew roses, jasmine, and gardenias in Florida, and loved the smell of those fresh flowers from my own garden!

Honestly, I had no doubt that Paula did flower arrangements.  It is in her to have beautiful & sweet things around her so naturally having these gorgeous flowers in her garden and at hand she is going to display and enjoy them.  I think that the love for cooking for her loved ones spills over into sharing her beautiful flowers for everyone to enjoy.
