Celebrating the Bag Lady Foundation

By Susan "Bubbles" Green

One year ago, THE BAG LADY FOUNDATION, was founded. I am fortunate enough to be on the Board of the Foundation and cannot wait for it to “fly” nationally and internationally. The Mission statement is:  To inspire individuals, communities and organizations with a particular focus on providing hope and support to women facing a range of personal and professional challenges.

I am sure that all of you know Paula’s story.  When she was at her wits’ end only having $200, she did what she had to do to make a living for her family; she became the BAG LADY. Sissy has made so many changes in her life and is fortunate that she is now able to give back to those that need hope and support to achieve their dreams. The Foundation has given to organizations for this very purpose.  I have witnessed the tears, smiles, hugs, comforting and encouraging words that were shared when Paula spoke with the women and their families in Joplin, MO at the LAFAYETTE HOUSE.  This is just one of the places that the Foundation has been able to offer financial support.  Paula’s food line will also benefit the Foundation with a percentage of the sales going to the Foundation.  The Foundation has raised money through auctions on the last two cruises, a fishing tournament in Jasper, MO, a cocktail party at the home of Michael and Paula, and individual donations!  There has been an overwhelming response to give to THE BAG LADY FOUNDATION!

Here we are in Missouri.

A wonderful friend of the FOUNDATION, Ben Mitchell, and I began brainstorming the possibility of having the original BAG LADY embroidered on aprons, bags, and hand towels.  These items were unveiled at the cocktail party recently held at Michael and Paula’s home in Savannah.  It was a wonderful surprise for Paula and Aunt Peggy.  Aunt Peggy is responsible for the caricature that was done for Paula’s logo when she was the BAG LADY back in the late 80’s.  Ben graciously donated his time and items to be given away at the party.  You can imagine the excitement for those that won one of the original items.  Below are images on the hand towel and beach bag that we gave away.  Also, I have included some pictures of the cocktail party that was just held to benefit the Foundation.

I just love the Bad Lady Logo!

Here’s a shot from one of the benefit cocktail parties.

If you would like to make a donation to TBLF, the address is:  The Bag Lady Foundation, 2391 Downing Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404.  Please visit:  bagladyfoundation.org

Love, hugs and remote kisses to all of you!
